I mentioned before some possible changes to Tylonproducts, which would make it a more professional place focusing more on the brand, name and products. I would like to include you- all of my supporters, in this big change I am planning.
The Home page I want to be super catchy, different, showcasing the products right there- all the different kinds of stuff I do. Seeing now I will be collaborating and affiliating with some local companies- I would like to incorporate them as well. As much as I ADORE this theme- I worry it will not be as professional as I need. I would like an area in my products to showcase clients, details on their project (like a form), and offer alternative photos in a nice, orderly fashion as a part of the site.
Seeing I enjoy hearing from all of you- I would like to move the postings over to the BLOG area of the new site. Perhaps I will trial it out and make a blog.tylonproducts.com if the database entries can convert. I enjoy feedback on new products and also receiving your valuable ideas and advice as well.
I would like to allow the option on the new site to have a mini store. While ETSY and Storenvy (trying that out perhaps) sounds like fun- I think the option to have my own store would be a benefit in the future.
Seeing I will also this year be selling my products at local events- I would like to offer an area for a calendar/ events section.
I am going to also post the services I do on Tylonproducts- like design and everything, however I am going to limit it towards small businesses. I will not go too in depth with this and that, I want the photos of what I do to tell the story.
I am in debate on how I want to lay out the site. So far I have as a rough:
- Home
- Featured slider- think pinterest- but all different products
- About Us & what we do
- Our Product Promise
- Quality Materials
- 100% hand made
- 100% made in USA
- Contact
- Become a Fan
- Our Clients
- Partners
- About
- Events
- Gallery
- Products
- Plush Animal & Soft Sculpture
- Jewelry
- Metal Art
- Ceramics
- Prints
- Custom Work
- Clients
- Services
- Design (make it based towards helping small businesses)
- Store
- ETSY
- Ebay
- Storenvy
- Blog
- Contact
- Testimonials
I want this site to be out of the ordinary, creative- walking that fine line between professional but also fun. If I hand out a business card at a craft fair, I want them to check out my site and be like WOW! Look at all of these different, cool, unique things!
I will be making my own business cards for these events as well.

Oh my, I see you have decided on some new changes. Sometimes change is good- and if change means you can re work your brand and name and give it a professional flair than I say go for it. There is a lot of online marketing you can do. I’m not too familiar with the online medias but I know enough to log in and comment on a site.
Keep us all posted. I always look forward to your postings. I feel so comfortable here now I don’t even sign my name or signature anymore.
Great community you have going.
I like the concept and transferal you are thinking about going through. For companies they usually go one of two ways- completely simple with the home page or all-out with fancy everything, to draw people in. Then often their pages are less complex. So you can go with a completely fancy look and feel.
Seeing you want to catch viewers- you want to draw them in with the variety of your products right away. So right now you have your jewelry, plush animals, metal art and prints you do. So perhaps a scrolling slider showcasing your products to start.
Also seeing you are gaining new affiliation, a clients area will help you for the custom work and even testimonials from the client on the custom work you did for them. Many new sites I have seen have the affiliates/ clients on the bottom listed. That also works.
I think the events area you could even turn into Community. Where you can post the events you will be at via calendar format or also a downloadable list, and if you are collaborating with a company you can include that as well.
This also might sound whacked- but for the jewelry you do why not model it? It might add a different effect to your sales.
As for photos- your photos are great. You have some good product photography- the only thing I could recommend doing is the idea I had above with the modeling.
I like the idea of made in the usa and going into depth about that. You never hear about that these days and I think it is refreshing.
As for negatives- the line between professional and fun is a very hard line to follow. I like the concept of keeping the comments limited to an area- but also if you can- transfer the content over so you can continue up with this fun area and sector.
Just how I feel with this entry and the happenings.
